Renfe will implement a special Cercanías service between August 15 and 23 that will add 59,300 seats to the usual offer, reaching over 734,000 seats. The reinforcement includes night services on lines C-1 and C-2.
Renfe has announced a reinforcement plan for the Cercanías service in the province of Málaga due to the Málaga Fair, which will be held from August 15 to 23. The company will incorporate 59,300 additional seats to the usual offer, representing an 8.7% increase compared to the regular schedule. In total, 1,214 trains will be in circulation, of which 98 are special services.
The plan is designed to facilitate travel for residents and visitors during the festive days, especially during peak demand times. The C-1 line, which connects Málaga with Fuengirola, will concentrate most of the reinforcements, with new services both early in the morning and at night.
Between Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 23, inclusive, two trains will be added departing from Victoria Kent station at 05:00 and 05:40. These services will complement the usual departures from Málaga, which occur at 05:20, 05:55, and 06:30, thus offering greater frequency in the early hours of the day.
In the night schedule, the C-1 line will also see its service expanded. From Málaga, trains will run every 20 minutes between 21:30 and 00:10. In the opposite direction, from Fuengirola, departures will occur with the same frequency between 22:20 and 01:00. This night reinforcement will be operational from Saturday, August 15, to Saturday, August 22, inclusive.
The C-2 line, which connects Málaga with Álora, will also have special measures. Between August 15 and 22, an additional train will run from Málaga at 23:40 heading to Álora. Additionally, on August 15, 16, 22, and 23, services that usually only operate on weekdays will be reinstated. Specifically, the train originating in Málaga will depart at 05:44, and the return from Álora will be at 06:37.
The total seat offer during the nine days of the Fair will exceed 734,000, of which 59,300 correspond to the extraordinary reinforcement. Renfe has detailed that the schedule has been designed to meet peak demand in three key time slots: early morning, midday, and night.
The special schedules are not uniform for all days. The departures from Victoria Kent at 05:00 and 05:40 will be maintained from August 15 to 23, while the night train on the C-2 to Álora will operate from August 15 to 22. The night extension of the C-1 in the Fuengirola-Málaga direction will be available until the 22nd, and the early services between Málaga and Álora will be concentrated on August 15, 16, 22, and 23.
The measure aims to prevent overcrowding and ensure the mobility of attendees at the Fair, especially during peak times. Renfe recommends checking updated schedules through its website or mobile app, as well as planning trips in advance.
For users of the C-1 line, the night offer will allow them to return home after festive events without needing to use a private vehicle. On the C-2 line, the reinstatement of weekday trains on Saturday and Sunday will facilitate access to Álora and the municipalities of the Guadalhorce Valley during the Fair weekend.
The special Cercanías service is part of the public transport operation that Renfe deploys each year for the Málaga Fair. The company has reminded that the usual schedules remain in place for other services, although with the announced specific modifications.
