The Bachibac programme, which allows students to obtain a dual Spanish-French Baccalaureate, has 404 students enrolled in Andalucía. This information was shared by the Education Councillor, María del Carmen Castillo, during her visit to IES Margarita Salas in Seville.
Opportunities of the Bachibac programme
Castillo highlighted that the programme represents an exceptional opportunity for students. It not only focuses on academic performance but also on knowledge of French culture, preparing young people for their academic and professional future.
In total, 11 public centres in Andalucía offer this dual qualification. Among them is IES Cánovas del Castillo in Málaga city. The other institutes are: Alborán (Almería), IES Drago (Cádiz), IES Blas Infante (Córdoba), Generalife and Ángel Ganivet (Granada), Alto Conquero (Huelva), Virgen del Carmen (Jaén), Mediterráneo (Estepona), and the Triana and Margarita Salas institutes (Seville).
Curriculum structure and evaluation
The Bachibac programme is based on an agreement between the governments of Spain and France. It features a mixed curriculum, where at least one third of the teaching hours are conducted in French.
Students must take an external exam on specific subjects to access the Baccalauréat title. This qualification is composed of 70% from the average of the Baccalaureate and 30% from the exam score.
The programme's approach favours cooperative and autonomous learning, promoting communicative skills and intercultural understanding. Castillo also emphasised the commitment of the IES Margarita Salas faculty to teaching French, ensuring that it provides unique opportunities for its students.
