The municipal delegate for Social Rights, Cristina Durán, has announced the closure of the Family School Veranea with ERACIS+, which has benefited 80 children from the neighbourhoods of La Dehesa and El Fuerte during the four Wednesdays of July.
Eighty boys and girls from the neighbourhoods of La Dehesa and El Fuerte have participated in the Family School Veranea with ERACIS+, an initiative promoted by the Social Rights Area of Ronda City Council in collaboration with the Red Cross. The programme has taken place over the four Wednesdays of July at the La Dehesa sports centre, providing an educational leisure space during the summer period.
The municipal delegate for Social Rights, Cristina Durán, was responsible for announcing the results of this activity, which is part of the ERACIS+ Strategy. This project is funded by the European Union and the Junta de Andalucía, through the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+).
Each of the four sessions focused on a different theme: superheroes, emotions, music, and water games. In this way, recreational activities were combined with the promotion of healthy habits among the youngest. Additionally, thanks to the collaboration of the Red Cross, all children received a healthy breakfast and a picnic to take home.
Durán positively assessed the reception of the programme and announced that the ERACIS+ team is already working on planning new activities for the next school year. These initiatives will focus on areas such as education, equality, and training, with the aim of continuing to provide resources to families in these neighbourhoods.
The president of the Red Cross in Ronda, Antonio Lasanta, reaffirmed the entity's commitment to continue collaborating with this initiative in future editions. For her part, the psychologist from the ERACIS+ team, Victoria Espejo, highly valued the participation of the children and their families. Espejo explained that in the coming months, coordination meetings will be held with educational centres and other public resources to maintain and expand the activities that will take place in La Dehesa and El Fuerte starting in September.
The Family School Veranea with ERACIS+ is part of a set of actions aimed at social inclusion and equal opportunities in disadvantaged areas of Ronda. The initiative has allowed children to enjoy an active summer while their families receive support and guidance.
The Ronda City Council has highlighted the importance of such programmes, which not only offer leisure alternatives but also promote values such as coexistence, solidarity, and respect. Collaboration between administrations and social entities like the Red Cross has been key to the success of the initiative.
For the next school year, the ERACIS+ team plans to expand the range of activities, incorporating educational and training workshops aimed at both children and their families. The idea is to consolidate an intervention model that combines educational support with the promotion of healthy habits and community participation.
The neighbourhoods of La Dehesa and El Fuerte are two of the areas in Ronda where social needs are most concentrated. Therefore, the City Council has prioritised the implementation of resources such as the Family School, which aims to reduce inequalities and improve the quality of life of residents.
The experience of this summer will serve as a basis for designing future editions and replicating the model in other areas of the municipality. The forecast is that the new activities will start in September, coinciding with the beginning of the school year, and will extend throughout the year.
