The Málaga City Council is tendering a framework agreement of two million euros to supply and install play equipment, spare parts, and safety surfacing in the 446 playgrounds across the city, distributed over eleven districts.
The Málaga City Council has launched an ambitious plan to renovate the city's playgrounds with an investment of two million euros. The contract, which is already in the tendering phase, will allow for the replacement and improvement of play elements, spare parts for fitness equipment, and safety surfacing in the 446 play areas spread across the eleven districts. Interested companies have until July 29 to submit their bids.
Four lots to cover all needs
The framework agreement has been divided into four specific lots. The first includes metal children's play equipment and spare parts for fitness equipment; the second, wooden play equipment; the third, areas for early childhood; and the fourth, safety surfacing. This division will allow for more efficient management and the specialization of suppliers in each type of material.
According to municipal sources, the aim is to ensure that all parks comply with European safety regulations, as well as to provide attractive and accessible spaces for young children. The duration of the contract is two years, ensuring ongoing maintenance.
Over 160 parks improved since 2023
This new investment adds to the work carried out between 2023 and the current year, during which a total of 161 playgrounds have been improved, renovated, or created with an investment of 2.9 million euros. Notable actions include the creation of six new play areas in neighbourhoods such as Los Cassinis, Galeón, Chaves, Aurelio Gomollón, Lágrima, and Plaza de Bailén.
Comprehensive renovations have also been carried out in iconic parks such as those in Gálvez Ginachero, La Era, Crónica, Juan Silveti, Victoria Kent, Plaza de la Luz, Wittemberg, Ronda de Poniente, and Mora and Cabrera. So far in the mandate, five new children's spaces have been established in the forest parks of Hacienda Clavero, Andrés Jiménez Díaz, La Pelusa, La Concepción, and Monte Victoria.
These join the five that already existed in Cerro Vallejo (Campanillas), Gibralfaro, El Morlaco, and other points in La Concepción and Andrés Jiménez Díaz. Additionally, the Parque del Agua in Olletas has been enhanced, and the play area in Parque de los Ángeles has been improved.
446 accredited parks with daily service
Currently, Málaga has 446 playgrounds, including fourteen located on the beaches, all accredited according to European safety regulations. Cleaning services are carried out daily, and periodic preventive and corrective inspections are conducted to ensure the good condition of the facilities.
For residents, this means that in the coming months they will see many of the parks in their neighbourhoods renewed, with new swings, slides, and safety surfaces. The City Council reminds that citizen participation is key and encourages Málaga residents to report any incidents through official channels.
The tender is already published on the public sector contracting platform, and interested companies can consult the documents and submit their bids until July 29. With this investment, Málaga continues to bet on quality public spaces for families to enjoy.
