The Sitio Antequera team decisively defeated Sitio Presidente 3-0 in the Taxi Driver Day tournament, consolidating its position as the undisputed leader in the Veterans category.

Last Thursday, on the synthetic grass pitch of San Martín Mexicápam, Sitio Antequera demonstrated why it is the team to beat in the 43rd Taxi Driver Day tournament. With a practical and uncompromising style of play, they won 3-0 against Sitio Presidente, in a match that clearly highlighted the differences between the two teams.

The match started with both teams testing their strength, without taking too many risks and fighting for every ball in midfield. The Presidente players were looking to escape the bottom, while Antequera defended its top position. The balance began to tip in the 20th minute, when Francisco Ríos, with composure and precision, executed a low free kick that nestled in next to the right post, leaving the opposing goalkeeper with no chance.

Absolute dominance of Antequera in the first half

That goal opened the door to a growing dominance from Antequera. Before the break, Nicolás García took advantage of a defensive lapse, penetrated the area, and bravely won the ball from the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Antequera's confidence grew, while Presidente found themselves having to swim against the tide.

Antequera's defence, led by Ignacio Cruz in goal, was solid and did not concede any clear chances. The fans present at the San Martín Mexicápam pitch cheered with every play, knowing their team was taking a giant step towards the title.

Final blow in the second half

In the second half, the Presidente team faded. In the 50th minute, Alfonso Martínez received a ball on the left and, without hesitation, lobbed his shot from outside the area to seal the 3-0. It was the blow that ultimately defined the course of the match.

The rest of the match was a monologue from Antequera, who controlled the field and the pace; although they did not manage to extend their lead, they kept any attempts at a comeback at bay. Presidente, despite generating some chances, never found the formula to seriously trouble Ignacio Cruz.

With this victory, Sitio Antequera remains at the top with 14 points, while Presidente suffered its fifth defeat in the tournament, leaving them stuck at the bottom with just 3 points. The difference is staggering: the leaders have double the points of their closest pursuer.

A brutal contrast in the table

This result not only reaffirms Antequera's solidity but also marks a brutal contrast with Sitio Presidente's situation, which will need to rethink its strategy if it wants to escape the bottom of the table. For Antequera fans, the joy is twofold: their team not only wins but does so with authority and without conceding a single goal.

Antequera's next match will be crucial to maintain their momentum, while Presidente will seek to secure their first victory of the tournament. The Taxi Driver Day tournament continues to deliver excitement, and for now, Antequera is the clear favourite for the title.
