The Civil Guard has arrested three people, including her ex-partner, for the death of Cristina, 35, whose body was found in a well in Rincón de la Victoria. The woman, a resident of Ciudad Jardín, had been missing since March 31.
Cristina's lifeless body, a 35-year-old woman and mother of a teenager, was discovered on Wednesday at noon in a well located in a rural area of Rincón de la Victoria, near the Cuevas stream. The Civil Guard has arrested three people as presumed responsible for her death, including her former partner. The Government Sub-delegation in Málaga has confirmed that the case is being investigated as a suspected gender-based murder.
A disappearance that lasted over a month
Cristina disappeared on March 31, according to the National Centre for Disappeared Persons. Since then, her family and neighbours from the Ciudad Jardín neighbourhood, where she lived with her mother, had no news of her. The woman was well-liked in the area, where she had grown up and studied at the Sagrada Familia school. On social media, Cristina described herself as "unmistakable, inimitable and incomparable" and expressed her pride in her daughter, a teenager from a previous relationship. "The most beautiful thing in my life!" she wrote in her last tweet, alongside a video of the young girl. She had her daughter's name, Cristy, tattooed along with the Disney character Stitch.
Neighbours are in shock. "We couldn't understand how she could just disappear suddenly," sources from the neighbourhood comment. "She was very family-oriented and very close to her daughter." Following the discovery, the community is calling for justice for Cristina and, above all, for her daughter, "who doesn't deserve such a horror."
Three arrested and confidentiality of the case
The Civil Guard arrested Cristina's ex-partner and two other individuals who allegedly helped conceal the body in a well near exit 968 of the A-7 motorway, heading towards Almería. The location, a track between crops and farmhouses, was the scene of the macabre discovery. The Government Sub-delegate, Javier Salas, confirmed that "we cannot allow gender-based violence to continue destroying lives" and noted that there were no prior complaints or records in the Viogén system. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to determine the exact causes of death. The judge has ordered confidentiality in the proceedings.
If confirmed as a gender-based crime, it would be the third murder due to gender violence in the province of Málaga in 2026, following the cases of Victoria Hart in Alhaurín el Grande and Vicky, shot dead by her husband in the capital of Málaga. The news has hit the Ciudad Jardín residents hard, who have organised a protest gathering for the coming days. Cristina's daughter, now orphaned, is being cared for by social services.
A broken neighbourhood and a girl without a mother
The Ciudad Jardín community, where Cristina lived her entire life, is engulfed in grief. Schoolmates and neighbours remember her as a cheerful and determined person. "She was a courageous mother, she did everything for her daughter," they say. The young girl, now a teenager, has lost her greatest support. Cristina would boast about her in every post: "In love with my mini-me and my future: FAMILY," she wrote in her TikTok bio. Now, the family is asking for respect and for justice to be served. The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has expressed its condolences and offered to assist with the investigation. The Government Delegation against Gender Violence has activated the protocol for monitoring cases of gender-based violence. The 016 helpline remains operational 24 hours a day to assist victims.
