The Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall has put out to tender a contract worth 1,218,030 euros to supply smart electronic meters that will allow real-time leak detection and advance the digitalisation of the water cycle.
The Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall, through the Municipal Water Service, has initiated the tendering process for a contract valued at 1,218,030 euros for the acquisition of smart electronic meters. The aim is to complete the modernisation of the household meter park in the municipality and strengthen the remote reading and sectorisation system of the supply network.
The base tender budget amounts to 368,454.08 euros (including VAT) and the contract will have a maximum duration of four years. During this period, the annual installation of 3,000 meters from the first lot and 750 from the second is planned, which will allow for a constant replacement rate of old equipment with state-of-the-art electronic devices.
The new meters, model DN15, incorporate LoRaWAN communication technology, compatible with the remote control platform already used by the Town Hall. This technology allows daily transmission of consumption data, facilitating the almost immediate detection of possible leaks, abnormal consumption, breakdowns or incidents in the subscribers' installations.
The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, promoted this modernisation plan to improve the efficiency of the supply network. The responsible department, led by Abel Perea, has divided the tender into two lots: the first for meters with ultrasonic measurement and integrated LoRaWAN communication, and the second for electronic meters with the same integrated communication technology.
Thanks to this initiative, the Town Hall will be able to reduce water losses and improve knowledge of the functioning of the municipal supply. The new devices incorporate electronic reading systems, integrated communication and filters that ensure the reliability of the measurements.
With this investment, Alhaurín de la Torre reaffirms its commitment to the digital transformation of the integral water cycle, improving service efficiency and the responsible use of an essential resource. The municipality thus equips itself with a more modern, precise supply network prepared to face present and future challenges in water management.
The tender is already published on the public sector contracting platform, and interested companies can submit their bids within the established deadlines. The awarding is expected to take place in the coming months, continuing the actions already carried out in previous phases.
