The Vélez-Málaga City Council signs the act of replanning with Transportes Antelo, S.L. and the works on the North Sidewalk, funded with €699,456.34 from the Málaga Diputación, begin.

The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Jesús Lupiáñez, signed the act of replanning this Tuesday, which effectively initiates the works on the North Sidewalk between Chilches and Benajarafe. Present at the event, held with representatives of the awarded company Transportes Antelo, S.L., were the deputy mayor of Benajarafe and Chilches, Rocío Ruiz, and the councillor for Infrastructure, Jesús María Claros.

The project will take place on the northern side of the CN-340a, in the section between the La Rincona urbanization and La Esperanza. The project includes a sidewalk of at least two meters in width with concrete paving, new parking spaces, renewal of supply and lighting networks, a rainwater system, and a viewpoint area on Paraíso del Sol street with vegetation and urban furniture.

The work is supported by a grant of €699,456.34 awarded by the Provincial Diputación of Málaga. According to the mayor, with this signing, "the machines will enter and a historic demand from our residents begins to become a reality."

"Today we leave behind the projects and the procedures and take the most important step: the machines will enter and a historic demand from our residents begins to become a reality."

Lupiáñez noted that the North Sidewalk "will completely change the experience of those who travel through this stretch of our coast," by offering a space that is "safer, accessible, comfortable, and in line with what the residents of Chilches and Benajarafe deserve."

The deputy mayor, Rocío Ruiz, emphasized that this is "a demand that residents have been bringing to the City Council for years" and that now "finally enters its decisive phase." The councillor for Infrastructure, Jesús María Claros, explained that the project "is not limited solely to constructing a sidewalk, but involves intervening in different elements of the infrastructure."

The City Council is working on the continuity of this corridor to enhance pedestrian mobility improvements on the CN-340a. The works now begin following the signing of the act and will be carried out in the section between Chilches Costa and Benajarafe.
