The Vélez-Málaga City Council has awarded the extension and renovation works of the Casa Cívica de Benajarafe for 48,151.22 euros, which will be transformed into a Multi-Use Centre with space for a Senior Centre. The intervention has an execution period of 60 days.

The Casa Cívica de Benajarafe will feature a new Multi-Use Centre after the Vélez-Málaga City Council has awarded the extension and renovation works of the building for 48,151.22 euros. The project, managed through the Municipal Buildings Department, has an execution period of 60 days and has been awarded to the company Raimundo Navarro S.L.U.

The works include the execution of new enclosures and masonry elements to expand the property, with 143.19 square metres corresponding to the enclosure of the new area. There will also be work on the roof, where a new ceramic tile roof of 100 square metres will be installed, accompanied by 134.85 square metres of bicapa waterproofing and 100 square metres of polyurethane insulation in the sloped area.

The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Jesús Lupiáñez, has stated that the intervention will provide the residents of Benajarafe with a renewed and expanded space for new uses.

"This intervention represents a new step towards improving the municipal facilities of Benajarafe and providing its residents with a renewed and expanded space, ready to accommodate new uses. We are working on an existing municipal facility to adapt it to current needs and continue improving the public spaces of our communities."

The deputy mayor of Benajarafe, Rocío Ruiz, has indicated that the transformation of these facilities will expand the usage possibilities of the equipment and provide the area with a space for different activities.

"The transformation of these facilities will allow for an expansion of the usage possibilities of this equipment and provide Benajarafe with a space ready to host different activities. This is an intervention that builds on an already existing municipal building and will give it a new function for the service of the residents of the area."

The councillor for Municipal Buildings, Jesús María Claros, has detailed that this first phase includes the extension, masonry works, and interventions on the roof. It is planned to continue with the conditioning of the building through subsequent actions on the interior ceiling, electrical installation, painting, metal carpentry, air conditioning, and furniture.

"This first intervention includes the extension of the building, masonry works, and various interventions on the roof, with insulation and waterproofing. Additionally, it is planned to continue with the conditioning of the building through subsequent actions on elements such as the interior ceiling, electrical installation, painting, metal carpentry, air conditioning, and furniture, thus completing the adaptation of the space for its new uses."

The ultimate goal is to enable the property as a Multi-Use Centre, with space adapted for various activities, including its operation as a Senior Centre.
