The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall will present the International Tourism Day award to the local company Turisgar, which has 57 years of experience in passenger transport. The event will take place on Sunday, September 27 at 21:00 in the square of the Church of Benagalbón.
The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has chosen the company Turisgar to receive the International Tourism Day award, which is celebrating its fifth edition. The recognition honours individuals, companies, or groups that contribute to the development and promotion of tourism in the municipality each year.
Turisgar was founded in Rincón de la Victoria and has accumulated 57 years of activity in passenger transport. Over more than five decades, it has worked in excursions, transfers for cruise passengers, and trips, while maintaining its original connection with school transport.
The mayor, Francisco Salado, stated that the choice reflects the desire to recognise those who make tourism possible from less visible areas for visitors.
“International Tourism Day is an opportunity to highlight not only the major tourist resources of Rincón de la Victoria but also the companies and professionals who make it possible for visitors and locals to enjoy the municipality throughout the year,” Salado indicated.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 27 at 21:00 in the square of the Church of Benagalbón. The event will conclude with a performance by the artist Manuel Lombo, sponsored by Turismo Costa del Sol.
In previous editions, the recognition has been awarded to businessman Leonardo Fernández, manager of Hotel Rincónsol; Añoreta Resort, whose award was collected by its CEO, Ángel Acha; the managers of the restaurant La Caliza, Óscar Delgado and Conchi García; and the sustainable diving school Eco&Dive, represented by Pedro David Avilés Jiménez and Gemma Infantes.
The Town Hall has also organised a programme from September 25 to 27 featuring heritage, gastronomy, sports, motor activities, and family leisure. The councillor for Tourism, Antonio José Martín, explained that the proposals aim to combine activities in different parts of the municipality.
“We want International Tourism Day to also be an opportunity for locals and visitors to discover and enjoy everything Rincón de la Victoria has to offer,” the councillor added.
On Sunday 27, the Cueva del Tesoro and Villa Antíopa will have free entry all day without reservation. Both sites will offer free guided tours at 11:00, 12:30, 17:00, and 18:30, with prior reservation required. The Cueva de la Victoria will also be specially opened, with two time slots at 10:00 and 12:30, ten places per slot, and reservations through turismoenrincon.es. The visit allows guests to explore a rock art site approximately 40,000 years old.
On Saturday 26, from 11:00 to 21:00, the Skatepark Ignacio Echeverría will host a skateboarding championship with registrations on the same day from 10:30 to 12:00. The councillor for Youth, Nacho Cuadra, highlighted the inclusion of this event to provide young people with sports opportunities in the municipality.
The Rally Gibralfaro will again take centre stage on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, from the afternoon of Friday 25 until Sunday 27, the plaza Al Andalus will host Oktoberfest, featuring craft beers, international food stalls, and musical performances.
Gastronomy will have its space on Sunday 27 at 12:00 in the plaza de Pepe El Boticario with ‘Locas por Rincón’, an initiative in collaboration with Sabor a Málaga. There will be 2,000 mini tortas locas made by Tejeros, along with a large torta loca for photography and tasting. The proceeds will be entirely donated to Cáritas.
