The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria awards the Police Merit Medal to three officers with 20 years of service and recognises three outstanding actions from 2026. Councillor Antonio Sanz announces the unified call for access to the Andalusian Local Police at the beginning of 2027.
The Folklore Centre of Benagalbón hosted the institutional event for the Patron's Day of the Rincón de la Victoria Local Police on 29 September, where the Town Hall acknowledged the work of the force and distinguished specific interventions from the past year. The day began with a mass in honour of the Archangels at the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria.
Three officers received the Police Merit Medal with blue distinction for their 20 years of service. During the event, congratulations were also given for three outstanding actions from 2026: the arrest of three individuals for a robbery at a business on 19 August, with the recovery of the stolen items and the vehicle; the intervention on 25 June following a stabbing in a home, where the officers assisted the victim and located the alleged attacker; and the rescue on 16 August of a person attempting to jump from a height.
The mayor, Francisco Salado, highlighted the daily work of the officers and their involvement in emergencies, conflicts, and accidents.
“I don’t think there is a better way to close the month of September than by paying tribute to all of you who form this great family and celebrating this Patron's Day with you.”
Salado also emphasised the coordination with other bodies and administrations, specifically mentioning the Local Police of Vélez-Málaga, the Civil Guard, the National Police, and the recent agreement with Moclinejo.
“Security knows no administrative boundaries.”
The mayor provided crime data for the municipality: conventional crime decreased by 4.1% in 2025 and 19.9% in the first quarter of 2026. Rincón de la Victoria has a lower rate than the averages for Andalusia, the province of Málaga, and Spain, and ranks among the Málaga municipalities with the fewest criminal offences per inhabitant.
The Councillor for the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, received a distinction from the Local Police for his contribution to the modernisation of the forces. Sanz thanked for the recognition and announced that the unified call for access to the Local Police of Andalucía will be ready at the beginning of 2027, with voluntary agreements already in processing with the town halls. He also indicated that the second decree for the development of the Local Police Law, focused on uniforms and technical means, will be approved in the first quarter of 2027.
The Councillor for Citizen Security, Manuel García, appreciated the work of the force and the cooperation with other bodies to respond to the needs of the residents.
