Nerja registers 912 unemployed in July, 120 fewer than a year ago. Unemployment falls by 11.63% year-on-year and remains below a thousand.
The municipality of Nerja has once again closed the month of July with a decrease in unemployment. According to data published by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the town currently has 912 unemployed individuals, a figure that keeps it below the thousand mark.
The year-on-year reduction reaches 11.63%, which equates to 120 fewer residents in a state of unemployment compared to July 2025. This decline consolidates the downward trend that the local labour market has been recording over the past year.
The mayor, José Alberto Armijo, has positively assessed these figures and emphasised that “the reduction of unemployment is always a good indicator for our municipality.” In his opinion, the figures reflect “the positive evolution of the local labour market.”
The councillor for Employment, Ángela Díaz, has attributed this improvement to the economic dynamism that Nerja is experiencing, especially in sectors such as tourism, commerce, and services. She has also highlighted the efforts of entrepreneurs, freelancers, and workers, and reiterated the commitment of the Town Hall to continue promoting initiatives that favour job creation, support for the business fabric, and training.
The evolution of employment in Nerja will continue to be marked by summer tourist activity, which usually sustains hiring in the Eastern Costa del Sol over the coming months.
