Antequera's Paseo Real hosts the Family Days Festival until Sunday, featuring thirteen food trucks, concerts, and children's activities, as part of the tenth anniversary of the Dolmens as World Heritage.
The Family Days Festival kicked off this Wednesday at Antequera's Paseo Real with a free offering that combines live music, international cuisine, and entertainment for the whole family. The event, which will last until next Sunday, is part of the Andalucía Antequera Light Fest programme and commemorates the tenth anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage designation of the Dolmens Site.
Inauguration with institutional presence
The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, along with the councillor for Tourism and World Heritage, Ana Cebrián, and the event promoter, Fernando Jara, were responsible for inaugurating the festival. They all agreed on highlighting the family-friendly and accessible nature of an initiative that aims to turn the Paseo Real into a meeting point for locals and visitors during these days of celebration.
The venue opens its doors each day between 20:00 and 00:00, providing a festive and safe atmosphere for all audiences. Admission is free, allowing anyone to come and enjoy the activities at no cost.
Cuisine and entertainment for all tastes
One of the major attractions of the Family Days Festival is its gastronomic area with thirteen food trucks offering culinary proposals from different countries. From Mexican to Asian cuisine, including local options, attendees can sample a wide variety of dishes in an outdoor setting. Additionally, the festival features a large terrace where visitors can sit and enjoy the evening.
The musical programme includes tribute concerts to bands such as Estopa, Fito & Fitipaldis, and Héroes del Silencio, as well as a musical gala inspired by Disney and a space dedicated to K-Pop, aimed at a younger audience. There are also children's activities, entertainment, and contests that ensure fun for the little ones.
“We want the Paseo Real to be the meeting place for Antequera families and those visiting us these days,” said the mayor during the inauguration.
The World Cup final on a giant screen
On Sunday night, the Paseo Real will adapt to one of the major sporting events of the summer: the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, scheduled for 21:00. The organisation will set up two giant screens to follow the match live and will modify the usual programme to expand the space available for the public.
This initiative allows the residents of Antequera and the surrounding area to enjoy the match in a festive atmosphere, without the need to travel to other towns. The organisation recommends arriving early to secure a good spot.
The Family Days Festival thus adds to the summer leisure offerings in the Antequera region, providing a free and varied alternative for all audiences. The Town Hall hopes for a high turnout, especially over the weekend, and reminds that access is free until the venue reaches capacity.
