The Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Málaga has announced the IX edition of the Miguel Ángel Rubio Photography Competition. This year, the contest focuses on mental health in the workplace, following the theme established by the World Health Organization (WHO) for World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10.
Competition details and participation
The competition, organized in collaboration with various entities such as the Public Andalusian Foundation for the Social Integration of People with Mental Illness (FAISEM), AFENES, AFESOL, and Bipolar Andalucía Oriental (BAO), is open to participation from all citizens. To participate, the photographs must be unpublished and not previously submitted to other contests.
The works should focus on raising awareness about emotional well-being and mental health in workplace environments. The deadline for submitting works will end on September 24, 2026. Photographs should be sent to the email address concursofotografiasaludmental@gmail.com, including the author's full name, the title of the work, their contact number, and postal address. Additionally, verbal informed consent will be required for any images that include patients in the healthcare setting.
Selection and prizes
As in previous editions, a selection committee will choose the 12 finalist photographs, from which the three winning works will be voted on. The selected images will be exhibited at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital during the week of the World Mental Health Day celebration and will also be part of the official calendar for the year 2027.
The winners of the top three prizes will receive a certificate and a handcrafted piece made in the occupational workshops of FAISEM. Mental Health unit professionals have highlighted the increasing participation in this contest, which contributes to improving the visibility of mental health in the population.
