The Torremolinos Town Hall has announced the construction of a Pump Track circuit in the El Pinillo area, next to the Javier Imbroda pavilion. The new facility will occupy a plot of 4,000 square meters.
The Torremolinos Town Hall has awarded the drafting of the technical project for a Pump Track circuit that will be located in the El Pinillo neighbourhood, next to the Javier Imbroda pavilion. The plot, measuring 4,000 square meters, is bordered by Vicente Blanch Picot, Juan Rosa Mateo and Pasaje Manuel Franco Cubeiro streets. The base bidding budget amounts to €626,356.50, co-financed by the Málaga Provincial Council through the Municipal Economic Assistance Plan (PAEM 2023, 2nd Phase).
The main circuit, built of asphalt and of medium-advanced difficulty, will consist of linked berms and bumps, designed for bicycles, scooters, skateboards and other non-motorised vehicles. The installation will also include a WaveRamp for surfskate and a mini-mini-Bowl for beginners, aiming to be suitable for all ages and disciplines. The project, named 'Nexo Imbroda', seeks to conceptually connect the new facility with the already existing pavilion.
This initiative responds to the growing demand for urban sports in the municipality and adds to the network of sports facilities in Torremolinos. The design considers integration with the urban environment, featuring pathways, connecting trails, low-water consumption landscaping, and rest areas with pergolas. All internal pedestrian routes will meet universal accessibility criteria, with no architectural barriers.
Regarding stormwater drainage, a draining system has been planned using wells or trenches filled with gravel. The ground will be compacted beforehand, and the layout will be configured with layers of compacted artificial fill. The circuit will comply with the necessary guidelines to obtain fitness certification from the competent authority, allowing for the hosting of federated competitions.
The new Pump Track reinforces the commitment of the Torremolinos Town Hall to sports and local communities, providing a space for gathering, leisure, and healthy living. It is expected that construction will begin once the project drafting is completed, although no specific start or completion date has been announced yet. The initiative has been well received by the residents of El Pinillo, who have been calling for more outdoor sports facilities in the area.
