The Town Hall of Marbella is constructing a new pump track in Arroyo de la Represa park, designed by specialist Rubén Alcántara. The works will be completed by the end of the year.
The Town Hall of Marbella is progressing with the construction of a new pump track in Arroyo de la Represa park, a specialised facility for BMX practice that will be ready before the year ends. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has visited the works and highlighted that this initiative is part of the municipal strategy to modernise sports facilities.
The track, which will cover an area of approximately 2,000 square metres, will be divided into two zones: one for more experienced cyclists and another for those who are starting in this discipline. The aim is to promote both learning and safe practice, as explained by the mayor.
The project has been designed following the guidelines of the renowned specialist Rubén Alcántara, who has defined the technical characteristics of the layout and the distribution of the routes. The work is co-financed by the Junta de Andalucía through the Large Cities Plan.
The works began with the complete demolition of the old facility and have incorporated sustainability measures: the resulting concrete is being reused as the base for the new track. According to Muñoz, this has allowed for the avoidance of waste transport, reduced truck traffic, and eliminated the need for new quarry materials, minimising the environmental impact.
The initiative also includes the preservation of the existing trees, maintaining those that provide shade and landscape integration. The new track will primarily be oriented towards BMX, although Marbella already has other spaces for wheeled sports.
With this infrastructure, the municipality reinforces its outdoor sports offerings. The works will conclude before the end of the year, according to municipal forecasts, and the track is expected to be operational for users from that point onwards.
