The Málaga City Council is strengthening the security measures for the Fair with 16 new cameras in the Real, aerial surveillance drones, and 4,434 local police services, among other measures.
The Málaga Fair 2026 will feature enhanced security measures both in the city centre and at the Cortijo de Torres venue. The City Council has presented a plan that includes increased video surveillance, police presence, traffic and breathalyser checks, medical assistance, and emergency teams.
One of the main innovations will be the installation of 16 surveillance cameras at various points in the Real, which will complement the hundred devices already operational in the Historic Centre and its surroundings. The new cameras will be located, among other areas, on the main avenues and near bus and taxi stops.
The deployment has been authorised by the Andalusian Video Surveillance Guarantees Commission and repeats a measure already used in the previous edition of the Fair.
Drones and Increased Police Presence
In addition to the cameras, the plan includes an aerial surveillance system using drones, which will fly over the Real every day of the Fair to capture images in case of incidents and provide support to the officers. This resource, already used during Holy Week and Christmas, aims to offer greater mobility and speed in response to public order disturbances.
The Local Police plans to carry out 4,434 services during the Fair, averaging 443 officers daily. Of these, 2,166 correspond to the extraordinary operation, which adds to the 2,268 ordinary services. These figures will be supplemented by personnel from the National Police and the Civil Guard.
The Support Operational Group (GOA) will enhance surveillance both at Cortijo de Torres and at the Fair in the Centre, maintaining its presence while there is a high influx of people. The Canine Subgroup, the Investigation and Protection Group (GIP), and agents from the Accident Investigation and Reports Group (GIAA) will also participate, conducting preventive breathalyser checks in the Centre and at the entrances to the Real.
In the Youth area, special services are planned at different times. The plan will be completed with health and traffic checks, as well as emergency teams deployed at both venues.
For attendees, the recommendation is to arrive early, follow the agents' instructions, and, if driving, avoid alcohol consumption. The Málaga Fair 2026 will take place from August 15 to 22.
