The Málaga City Council is expanding the video surveillance network with 16 more cameras in the Real and activating drones during the Fair, which will be held from August 15 to 22. The municipal operation will have an average of 443 daily personnel.
This year's Málaga Fair will have a reinforced security operation. The Local Police will deploy 16 additional cameras in the Real de Cortijo de Torres, which will join the existing video surveillance network and the drones that will fly over the fairground during the eight days of festivities, from August 15 to 22. The authorization for these new cameras has already been granted by the Andalusian Video Surveillance Guarantees Commission.
The drones, which are already used in other large events such as Holy Week or Christmas, will monitor the surroundings of the Real every day of the Fair. Additionally, there will be special services in the Youth area at different times. This technological reinforcement is part of the special municipal security operation, which also includes Firefighters and Civil Protection.
The operation will kick off on Friday, August 14, with the fireworks display and will continue until Sunday, August 23. Throughout this period, the Local Civil Protection Emergency Territorial Plan of Málaga will remain in Pre-emergency phase (operational situation 0). An Operational Coordination Centre (CECOP) will be established in the Real itself, active until the morning of Sunday, August 23, and another at the Municipal Emergency Centre.
The Local Police will carry out a total of 4,434 services, with an average of 443 personnel daily. Of these, 2,166 correspond to the extraordinary operation and 2,268 to the ordinary service. This figure will be supplemented by agents from the National Police and the Civil Guard participating in the operation.
Once again, the Operational Support Group (GOA) will enhance surveillance both in the Cortijo de Torres and in the Central Fair, supported by the Canine Subgroup and the Investigation and Protection Group (GIP). The Accident and Report Investigation Group (GIAA) will conduct preventive breathalyser checks in the Centre and at the access points to the Real.
In collaboration with the National Police, physical offices of both bodies will be established in the fairground. In the Centre, access controls will be tightened to prevent entry with glass bottles, as well as monitoring the sale of alcohol to minors and unauthorized beverages. The bars serving drinks for consumption in public areas will also be monitored, in accordance with the Coexistence Ordinance.
The Nature Protection Group (Gruprona) will focus on the health inspection of food, especially in the Real and during loading and unloading hours, coordinated with the Seprona of the Civil Guard and the Food Sanitation Service of the City Council. Fishing inspection personnel will also be incorporated to control traceability and regulatory sizes.
In terms of traffic, the Civil Guard will control access to the city and the ring roads, while the Local Police will implement diversions to ensure mobility and the functioning of public transport. The Firefighters will have a daily unit in the Centre and two in the Real, in addition to three fire engines available each day: one in the Centre (from 14:00 to 19:00) and two in the Real (from 13:30 to 5:30). A special operation will be activated on the night of the fireworks.
The operation will be completed with the Civil Protection Service, the Volunteer Group, and a medical team with mobile units. Coordination among all bodies will be addressed in the Local Security Board scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, with the Government Subdelegation.
