The Torremolinos Town Hall has presented seven new vehicles for the Local Police, which will be joined by four motorcycles in the coming weeks. The investment amounts to €638,952.60 in a four-year leasing contract.

The Town Hall has presented this provision, which will be completed with four motorcycles that will be received in the coming weeks. The operation has been formalised through a leasing contract for €638,952.60, taxes included, with a duration of four years.
The mayor, Margarita del Cid, explained that this renewal allows for a more modern fleet adapted to the needs of the municipality. "Today we present seven new cars, one of which is adapted for the Green Patrol. They are all hybrid and, in addition to being more sustainable, they come with many more features, especially for the protection of the police officers, so I believe the improvement is substantial," she stated.
Del Cid recalled that four years ago a first leasing was tendered to replace a fleet that was "absolutely obsolete" and that, once that contract was completed, it has been retendered with better features. "These are added to other improvements that are being made," she added.
The new vehicles include five compact crossover SUVs with MHEV technology, automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. They are equipped with a detainee kit, certified ballistic protection, an extendable desk with a printer, and other elements for police procedures. Another vehicle with the same characteristics but without a detainee kit is also included.
The provision also includes a medium diesel MHEV SUV with all-wheel drive, adapted for the Green Patrol through a certified module or kennel, which improves working conditions and the transport of animals during services.
The four pending motorcycles will be two scooters for urban and interurban services, with a trunk, and two medium displacement trail/crossover bikes, prepared for urban, interurban, and irregularly shaped roads. All vehicles are registered, labelled, and specifically equipped for police service.
The Town Hall frames this renewal within its commitment to reducing emissions and sustainable mobility by incorporating more efficient technologies.
In parallel, the City Council has strengthened its workforce. This summer, eleven new officers have taken office through free competition and one more through mobility, after twenty years without new incorporations. The mayor has announced that a new position will be called for another twelve officers: "We will soon announce a new call for another twelve Local Police officers. After more than 20 years without new police officers, in this legislature we will have 24," she asserted.

The arrival of the new personnel allows for an increase in police presence on the streets and reinforces preventive surveillance, especially during the months of highest tourist influx, when the municipality's population grows significantly.
