The company has replaced 300 metres of cabling in the town centre to improve supply to 500 homes and businesses.
Endesa, through its network subsidiary e-distribution, has completed reinforcement works on the medium voltage line in Torremolinos, involving an investment of 50,000 euros. The works consisted of replacing 300 metres of underground cabling in the heart of the town, a measure that will directly benefit around 500 customers including homes and commercial establishments.
The intervention took place on two of the busiest streets in the municipality: Isabel Manoja Street and Palma de Mallorca Avenue. To carry out the works, Endesa had to dig trenches underground, which required close coordination with the Torremolinos Town Hall to authorise the works and organise the necessary traffic diversions.
A more modern and reliable cabling
The new installation incorporates state-of-the-art technology, according to the company. This cabling is designed to improve the network's response to potential faults and better withstand increases in electricity demand, which is particularly relevant in a tourist area like Torremolinos, where consumption spikes during peak season and summer months.
The replacement of the cabling will increase the capacity and stability of the network, reducing the risk of incidents and blackouts. Residents on the affected streets and surrounding areas will notice an improvement in supply quality, with fewer outages and voltage fluctuations.
Endesa has highlighted that these works are part of the e-distribution Investment Plan for the province of Málaga, approved by the Junta de Andalucía. This programme includes multiple actions aimed at renewing, expanding, and automating the electricity distribution networks throughout the province.
More investments in the Málaga network
The investment plan is not limited to Torremolinos. Endesa plans to carry out similar actions in other municipalities in the province to improve supply quality and facilitate the integration of renewable energies into the network. The company has stated that these improvements are key to ensuring a reliable electricity service for both homes and businesses, especially in a context of growing demand and a push for electric mobility.
For the residents of Torremolinos, this news comes as a relief, as complaints about blackouts and supply issues had been reported in some areas of the town centre in recent years. With this cabling renewal, Endesa hopes to minimise incidents and provide a more stable service.
"These works are a demonstration of Endesa's commitment to the continuous improvement of the electricity network in the province of Málaga," company sources have stated.
The works have now been completed, and the affected streets have returned to normal. Residents can now enjoy a renewed electrical infrastructure that, according to Endesa, reduces the risk of outages and improves the response capacity during consumption peaks.
