The band from San Vicente dels Horts closed their time in the province of Málaga at Starlite Occident, reflecting on their greatest hits and delivering an emotional message from their leader, Santi Balmes.
The group Love of Lesbian performed this Saturday at the Cantera de Nagüeles (Marbella) in one of the concerts of their farewell tour 'The Last Verse', which could be the band's last live performance in the province of Málaga. The band, celebrating 25 years and ten albums, chose the stage at Starlite Occident to showcase the best of their career in front of an enthusiastic audience.
The vocalist Santi Balmes joked about the uniqueness of the venue: "I feel like we are playing on an asteroid." He also expressed surprise at the audience's profile: "This is one of the festivals where the audience smells the best. There are many handsome men and women. We always thought: we will never come here. Damn, Bisbal is coming."
The repertoire included classics like '1999', 'Snow Fires', 'Where We Used to Scream', and 'John Boy Fan Club', as well as a virtual duet with Rigoberta Bandini on 'Contradiction'. The guitarist Julián Saldarriaga shared some nostalgic words: "We are a band that started in a garage and the journey has been intense. Being here is an honor, it’s a wonderful trajectory."
Balmes took the opportunity to send a message about current social issues: "You can be left-wing or right-wing but you cannot lose your humanity. We see things on television that make us very angry, are we on the brink of collapse?" The band bid farewell with an encore featuring 'The Unbreakables', 'The Bulls on the Wii (Fantastic)', and the generational anthem 'John Boy Fan Club'.
