This figure represents a significant improvement in the management of municipal accounts and brings the council closer to the legal target of 30 days.

Bravo explained that this progress is due to the organisation of municipal management driven by the current government team, with the creation of instruments such as the Budget and Accounting Management Body and the annual approval of municipal budgets. “These are key tools to expedite payments and provide certainty to the companies working with the Town Hall,” the councillor pointed out.

The improvement in payment timelines is having a positive effect on municipal contracting. According to Bravo, more and larger companies are bidding for contracts from the Mijas Town Hall. A notable example is the comprehensive renovation project of the La Cala football field, which has attracted top-level firms.

At the same time, the council has increased administrative contracting by 10% over the past year, while minor contracts have decreased by more than 30%, according to the report published by the Legal Advisory. These figures reflect an increase in orderly procedural management and greater efficiency in the use of public resources.

The redirection of the municipal economic situation has also been supported by the approval of the Municipal Organic Regulation and the Anti-Fraud Plan, both in force under the current government team. These measures have contributed to improving transparency and internal control.

For the residents of Mijas, this reduction in payment timelines guarantees that municipal works and services are executed more swiftly, as supplier companies experience less cash flow pressure. Furthermore, increased competition in tenders can lead to better prices and quality for public projects.

The Mijas Town Hall continues to work towards achieving the 30 days stipulated by law as a preferred deadline, a goal that Bravo is confident will be achieved in the coming months thanks to the consolidation of the reforms undertaken.
