Mijas Local Police have arrested three individuals in two operations for thefts from vehicles around Avenida de Andalucía. The increased surveillance led to the latest arrest during the night of September 14.
The Mijas Local Police have arrested three individuals in two separate operations related to thefts from parked vehicles around Avenida de Andalucía. The operation was activated after officers detected a series of thefts in the area, according to the Mijas Town Hall.
The latest intervention occurred during the night of September 14, when a patrol caught two individuals inside a vehicle on Calle Antonio García Moreno. Both were arrested as suspected perpetrators of a theft with force. The two were moving around the area on bicycles.
Previously, in the same area, the Local Police had arrested the suspected perpetrator of thefts from vehicles parked on the avenues of Andalucía and Carmen Sáenz de Tejada, where windows had been broken to gain access to the interiors of cars and steal items.
“As soon as we became aware that thefts were occurring in vehicles in this area, police surveillance was increased. This effort has yielded results, and we have three arrests in two different operations,” explained the Local Police councillor, Juan Carlos Cuevas.
Cuevas added that “police presence and surveillance are essential both for preventing these crimes and for being able to act when they occur,” and he thanked “the work of the officers who participated in both interventions and the daily work of the Local Police on our streets.”
The Local Police will maintain surveillance in the area and reminds residents of the importance of reporting any suspicious behaviour and avoiding leaving valuable items visible inside vehicles.
