The Marbella Town Hall and Aspandem have signed two nominative agreements worth 299,000 euros that support the care of 980 people with intellectual disabilities and their families. One of them, for 63,000 euros, finances the gardening and horticulture programme for job insertion.
The Marbella Town Hall and the association Aspandem have signed two collaboration agreements for a total amount of 299,000 euros. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, and the president of the entity, María José Morales, formalised the agreements at an event also attended by the deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier García.
The funds support the work of Aspandem, which currently cares for 980 people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The mayor highlighted the "satisfaction" with the nominative aids and valued "the invaluable work that the organisation carries out, providing service and response to its users in the various care centres it has in our municipality, which also receive people from other parts of the province and Andalucía."
"The two agreements guarantee a multi-year collaboration that allows the association to address the needs arising from the different services it provides," explained Javier García.
The deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara framed the agreements within the strategic grant plan and noted that the needs of Aspandem "continue to increase." A 15 percent increase in contributions to these entities is planned for 2027. "We know that they are increasingly serving more users and that they need resources to continue offering their services reliably, so we at the Town Hall want to continue responding and maintaining close cooperation," he emphasised.
The president of Aspandem, María José Morales, expressed her "deep gratitude to the Town Hall" and stated that these agreements "represent a crucial boost for our activity." Morales detailed that, although the entity's centres are contracted, "we work to offer an added standard of quality to our users that would be practically impossible to maintain without municipal support."
The first of the agreements amounts to 236,000 euros and contributes to the maintenance of services in the centres that Aspandem has in Marbella, San Pedro Alcántara, and Nueva Andalucía. The second, endowed with 63,000 euros, finances the horticulture and gardening programme, which allows users to undertake internships and acquire skills to facilitate their job insertion in a regular company.
The signing of these agreements takes place in September 2026 and the municipal contributions will be maintained on a multi-year basis. The planned 15 percent increase for 2027 will apply to all social entities receiving grants from the Town Hall.
