The Marbella City Council signs two agreements with Aspandem for 299,000 euros to maintain the services that the entity provides to 980 people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
The Marbella City Council has renewed its collaboration with Aspandem by signing two agreements totalling 299,000 euros that support the care provided by the association to 980 people with intellectual disabilities and their families, according to Diario Sur.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, and the president of the entity, María José Morales, formalised the agreements at an event also attended by the deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier García.
The larger agreement, amounting to 236,000 euros, contributes to the maintenance of the services that Aspandem provides in its centres in Marbella, San Pedro Alcántara, and Nueva Andalucía. The second agreement, for 63,000 euros, funds the horticulture and gardening programme, in which users gain practical experience and skills for their employment integration in a regular company.

This is how Muñoz valued Aspandem's work, whose centres also serve people from other municipalities in the province and Andalucía.
García explained that the two agreements are part of the strategic grant plan and guarantee a multi-year collaboration that allows the association to meet the needs of its various services. The deputy mayor noted that the needs of Aspandem, like those of other social groups, continue to increase and reminded that a 15 percent increase in contributions to these entities is planned for 2027.

The president of Aspandem expressed her “deep gratitude to the City Council” and stated that these agreements represent a boost for the entity's activities.
“We work to offer an added quality standard to our users that would be practically impossible to maintain without municipal help”
Morales recalled that, although the entity's centres are contracted, the municipal contribution is crucial to maintain that level of quality. The two signed agreements are nominative aids included in the City Council's strategic grant plan.
