The image paraded through the streets of the Málaga capital from the church of Santos Mártires in a white gown and mantle embroidered in gold, in an outing that showcased earrings and cuffs donated by members.
The Virgin of Remedies once again paraded this September through the streets of the Málaga capital from the church of Santos Mártires, in a procession that served as a reunion between the congregation and the image. The outing, as reported by Diario Sur, took place at 18:41 hours, when the Virgin appeared in the square after the procession unfolded along Santa Lucía street.
The procession, compact so that participants could enjoy the closeness of the image, included sections of white candles, insignias of the corporation, and the simpecados of the Virgins of Carmen and Remedies. The 19th-century book of rules was carried by Fernando Ojeda, owner of Cerería Ojeda. Presiding was José Soler, a promoter of the recovery of this devotion in the eighties, accompanied by the former brother major Alejandro Morante, recently appointed preacher of the Pure and Clean Conception of Mary, an event that the Archconfraternity of the Sorrows of San Juan will celebrate on 6 December.
The Virgin wore a gown of white taffeta embroidered in gold, crafted by Sebastián Marchante in 2001, and the white procession mantle, also embroidered in gold by the same artist in 2013. It was the first time the image had appeared in September in this attire, although it had been displayed in this way during the votive rosary in December. On her temples, she wore the 18th-century crown by silversmith Manuel Marín, one of the oldest pieces in her adornments, along with the eight-pointed star by Manuel de los Ríos and the crescent by the same goldsmith. On her chest, the Medal of the City awarded by the Málaga City Council on 3 February 2007.
This year, the adornments included two new items: a pair of earrings donated by a brother and embroidered cuffs for the sleeves of the dress, a gift from another member of the corporation. The base featured new talc flowers made by Alejandro Lepe that completed the procession ensemble. The Holy Child of the Rosary, which the Virgin holds in her left arm, also wore his gown of white taffeta embroidered in gold by Marchante in 2001 and his crown by Manuel Marín.
Journalist Marta Jiménez, the Virgin's maid, made her debut as the throne steward. The preste was Juan Carlos Millán, parish priest of Arenas, Daimalos, and Trapiche, and vicar of San Andrés in Torre del Mar. The Maestro Eloy García music band of the Archconfraternity of Expiration performed 'Jesus of the Passion' by Perfecto Artola before the procession, as a gesture of fraternity with the Archconfraternity of the Passion, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Nazareno.
The floral decoration, in white tones, included tuberoses, gladioli, snapdragons, carnations, and ferns. The image advanced with its agile and classic walk, without dances or changes of rhythm, always facing forward and steady. The next appointment with the Virgin of Remedies will be in December, when she will preside over the votive rosary that precedes Christmas.
