The Marbella City Council renews its support for Aspandem with 300,000 euros. The entity already assists nearly 960 people with disabilities on the Costa del Sol.

The Aspandem association, a leader in supporting people with disabilities on the Costa del Sol, has received a new boost from the Marbella City Council. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, visited the entity's residential facilities to announce the renewal of collaboration agreements, amounting to 300,000 euros, which will be signed in the coming weeks. The agreement will allow the organization to maintain and strengthen the services it provides to nearly 960 users.

A support that makes a difference

During the visit, Muñoz highlighted Aspandem's trajectory, which she described as “a reference in the Costa del Sol and throughout Andalusia”. The mayor praised the work of the entity's president, María José Morales, and the entire team of professionals. “They have been committed to innovation and the full inclusion of their users for many years, being able to detect needs and anticipate them,” she noted. Muñoz emphasized that “every euro the City Council contributes to Aspandem is the best investment we can make.”

The mayor stressed the early intervention services developed by the entity, a key service for children aged 0 to 6 years. “They do extraordinary work with therapies in the early stages of childhood, focusing on early diagnosis and providing support to many families,” she explained. She also valued other projects such as the nursery, which promotes training and job placement for people with disabilities.

The importance of annual agreements

For her part, María José Morales expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the City Council. “For us, it is a great satisfaction to have this support, as it allows us to enhance the quality of the services we offer,” she indicated. The president recalled that the entity's basic projects are guaranteed thanks to agreements with public administrations, but specified that “this complementary care, those resources that make a difference for each user and their families, are possible thanks to the support we receive from the local institution.”

Morales also emphasized the agreement aimed at the nursery, an initiative that enables the professional training of users. “It allows vocational training to become a reality and many people to enter the job market and develop as full citizens,” she stated. The president specifically thanked the mayor and the deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier García, for their support.

A growing network of resources

Aspandem provides support to nearly a thousand people through a wide network of specialized resources. The entity has two early childhood care centres for children aged 0 to 6 years, located in Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara; a concerted educational centre with the Junta de Andalucía; four day centres, three of which offer occupational therapy and one dedicated to severely affected individuals; a residential centre with units for adults and for those with high dependency; a special employment centre; and various specialized services such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology, or aquatic activity programs.

For the residents of Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara, the agreement guarantees that these services will continue to operate with quality. Families in need of support can visit the early intervention centres or request information about job placement programs. The renewal of the agreement, which will be signed soon, ensures the continuity of work that, as the mayor recalled, “is the best investment we can make”.
