Almargen, Málaga has been the scene of the recent key handover of 14 protected rental homes by the Minister of Housing, Youth and Land Planning, Rocío Díaz.
The homes, with monthly rents ranging from 183 to 250 euros, are part of a project with a total investment cost of two million euros. This effort aims to expand access to housing opportunities in the rural municipality, which faces the challenge of aging and population loss.

The 14 houses are distributed across two developments: one consisting of eight general regime homes and another that includes six special regime homes. The Junta has channeled nearly 330,000 euros through the Protected Rental Housing Promotion Programme for their financing.
At the handover event, accompanied by the mayor of Almargen, María del Carmen Romero, Díaz highlighted the impact this action will have on the beneficiary families. She emphasized that receiving the keys to a home represents more than just opening a door; it symbolizes stability and a home. The 14 beneficiary families are beginning a new chapter in their lives.

The delivery of these homes is crucial in a municipality of just 1,800 inhabitants, where the availability of affordable rentals is essential to attract and retain the population, especially young people and their families.
