The Junta delivers 14 homes in Almargen
The Junta de Andalucía has carried out the delivery of 14 protected rental homes in Almargen, a town in the Guadalteba region of Málaga. The monthly rents for these homes range from 183 to 250 euros, aiming to facilitate access to housing in this rural municipality.
In total, the investment for this initiative has reached two million euros. This initiative is crucial to address the challenges of aging and depopulation affecting Almargen, where creating housing opportunities is key for families and young people to establish their life projects.
Details about the housing promotions
The homes are distributed across two promotions: one with eight units under general regime and another with six under special regime. The Junta has contributed nearly 330,000 euros through the Programme for the Promotion of the Protected Rental Housing Stock, with 177,483 euros allocated to the first promotion and 155,200 euros to the second. The Government of Spain, the Diputación de Málaga, and the Almargen Town Hall have also contributed to the financing.
The Minister of Housing, Youth and Land Planning, Rocío Díaz, attended the key handover, alongside the mayor of Almargen, María del Carmen Romero. Díaz emphasized that receiving the keys to a home means more than just opening a door, as it represents the possibility of having a home and stability.
This delivery is significant in a municipality with just over 1,800 inhabitants and is framed within the need to offer accessible housing and services so that those wishing to reside in the locality can do so. The existence of affordable rentals is essential to encourage young people and families to stay in Almargen, helping to maintain the population and ensure generational renewal.
The minister also highlighted the importance of mobilizing land and facilitating the construction of affordable homes, reiterating that it is essential for projects to be carried out and for homes to be available to those in need.
