Marbella has 19 'Q' flags for Quality and 19 'S' flags for Sustainability on its beaches, within a total of 57 certifications from the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality and Sustainability (ICTES). The city hosted the first delivery of these distinctions in Andalusia.
Marbella has received 19 'Q' flags for Tourist Quality and 19 'S' distinctions for Sustainability for its beaches, according to the certification delivery awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality and Sustainability (ICTES). The event took place this Monday in the city and was the first of its kind in Andalusia.
In total, the municipality has 57 certifications from ICTES for public resources and services. Of these, 38 correspond to beaches, 8 to the network of trails on the southern face of Sierra Blanca, 4 'Q' and 4 'S' for tourist offices, one accreditation for Smart Tourist Destination, one 'Q' for the Adolfo Suárez Congress Palace, and another for the Marbella Marina.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has stated that these recognitions are the result of a sustained strategy to move towards a model of tourism excellence. "Sustainability is no longer an option, but a shared responsibility, and quality is a permanent commitment to continuous improvement," she declared.

Muñoz recalled that Marbella has been awarded this year with the 'Q Award' for being the municipality in Spain with the highest number of certifications in both categories for its public resources and services.
The acting Tourism Minister, Arturo Bernal, highlighted that Andalusia is the autonomous community with the most quality and sustainability certifications in Spain. "Behind each 'Q' and each 'S' there is planning, investment, professionalism, and commitment," he affirmed.
The president of ICTES, Miguel Mirones, emphasized Marbella's track record in terms of quality and sustainability in tourism and attributed the city's selection for this delivery to "many years of work and sustained effort."
Andalusia totals this year 139 certified beaches with the 'Q' and 108 with the 'S', in addition to six certifications for marinas. These distinctions certify compliance with service quality standards, accessibility, safety, cleanliness, environmental management, and conservation of the environment, after passing external and independent audits.
