Marbella's Local Police mobilises 50 officers daily across the 44 educational centres in the municipality to manage traffic during student arrivals and departures. The operation begins with the school year and will continue throughout the year.
The Local Police of Marbella has launched this school year an operation that will remain active throughout the year in the 44 schools and institutes in the municipality. The plan includes the daily deployment of 50 officers to control student arrivals and departures and manage mobility around the centres, as detailed by Diario Sur.
The Councillor for Citizen Security, José Eduardo Díaz, explained that the officers are distributed around the educational facilities half an hour before classes begin. Their role is to regulate traffic, facilitate circulation, and organise parking areas during peak vehicle times.
“This is one of the most important campaigns we run each year due to the number of officers mobilised and its direct impact on students and their families.”
The councillor noted that all available personnel from various Local Police departments are assigned to this task to cover as many centres as possible. He also requested cooperation from families to ensure the operation runs smoothly.
“We ask families to arrive in good time to drop off their children and avoid congestion.”
In parallel, the local force has activated the Family Support Unit linked to the plan against school absenteeism, consisting of three officers and a sub-inspector. Additionally, in coordination with the Junta de Andalucía, the school transport control campaign will be carried out again this year to ensure the service is provided with safety guarantees.
The councillor for the Las Chapas district, María José Figueira, has presented the operation in the area and highlighted the opening of a car park with 75 spaces next to the Platero school, with an investment of 400,000 euros. The councillor indicated that this facility addresses the congestion issues recorded around the centre coinciding with student arrivals and departures.
“This is a fundamental action in a location where significant traffic congestion occurred during student arrivals and departures.”
The new space will have a multipurpose character: during the summer months, it will be used as the Las Chapas fairground and can host other activities and events, as pointed out by the district head.
