The Civil Guard has arrested a 52-year-old man in Valencia, accused of committing ten robberies at petrol stations staffed by women, where the perpetrator used a knife to intimidate his victims.
The robberies took place in different locations in Horta Nord, such as Valencia, Massamagrell, Rafelbunyol, and Puçol, and the arrested man selected establishments where there was only one worker. The investigation began in mid-September due to a notable increase in violent robberies at petrol stations in the region.
Robber's method
The man arrived at the petrol stations by bicycle and wore specific clothing, which he changed before committing the crime. This detailed analysis of his behaviour allowed the Civil Guard to establish a special surveillance operation at the most vulnerable establishments.
After several weeks of monitoring, on October 10, agents intercepted the robber while he was attempting to assault a service station. He has been charged with ten counts of robbery with intimidation, one of which was attempted.
Judicial process
The arrested man has been brought before the judiciary and is currently in preventive detention. The proceedings regarding this case have been handed over to the Massamagrell Court for instruction.
The operation was carried out by the Sagunto Company, in collaboration with the main posts of Massamagrell and Sagunto, and the judicial police team from Moncada.
