The Marbella Town Hall installs 15 information totems on the boulevard of San Pedro Alcántara so that residents and visitors can plan their journeys before and during the passage of La Vuelta this Friday. It is recommended to avoid driving between 14:30 and 16:30.
The Marbella Town Hall has launched an information campaign to facilitate mobility in San Pedro Alcántara ahead of the Vuelta a España this Friday, September 11. Since Wednesday, 15 information totems have been installed along the San Pedro boulevard, as reported by Diario Sur, so that residents can check in advance the expected disruptions and organise their usual routes, whether for work, leaving the city, parking, or travelling to the airport.
The deputy mayor of San Pedro, Javier García, and the councillor for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes, have presented the initiative. Vieytes explained that this action "follows the line of other campaigns developed for major sporting events held in Marbella, such as the IRONMAN, so that during these days citizens can see in advance what the main disruptions will be and can plan their journeys."
"We want residents to be able to organise their route, know where they can park, look for alternative exits if they need to go to work or travel to the airport, and ultimately have all the necessary information to minimise inconveniences."
The councillor emphasised that traffic disruptions will depend on the progress of the race itself and that the plan is to restore circulation as soon as the passage of La Vuelta through the affected points is finished.
The Citizen Security department will deploy a device consisting of 45 local police. The municipal recommendation is to avoid using vehicles between 14:30 and 16:30, the period during which the event will approximately last. The main disruption will be the descent from the Ronda road to the roundabout on Avenida Oriental and the crossing to the San Pedro boulevard, depending on the route of the event.
When the closure of these main roads occurs, the signage in San Pedro will be modified and there may be an impact from Marbella in that direction, with the closure on the A-7 motorway before reaching the tunnel. School and public transport have also been warned to use alternative routes.
