The Senior Citizens and Sports departments of the Fuengirola City Council have announced a new hiking route as part of the 'Fuengirola Saludable' programme for Saturday 19th September at 9:00 AM. Registration is free and can be completed at the Social Home on Blanca Paloma street.

The Senior Citizens and Sports departments of the Fuengirola City Council have organised a new hiking route within the 'Fuengirola Saludable' programme. The activity will take place on Saturday 19th September starting at 9:00 AM, departing from Pedro Cuevas square in Los Boliches, and will head towards the Sendero del Mar.

The councillor for Families, Equality and Social Welfare and head of the Senior Citizens Area, Cristina Bornao, has detailed that the initiative aims to promote outdoor physical activity and healthy lifestyle habits among the elderly in the city.

"As part of the 'Fuengirola Saludable' programme, which we develop jointly from the Senior Citizens Area of the Families, Equality and Social Welfare Department and the Sports Department, we present a new urban hiking route that this time will head towards the Sendero del Mar"

The route will cover an approximate distance of seven kilometres and is expected to last two hours. Participants will depart at 9:00 AM from Pedro Cuevas square, where they will do a group warm-up before starting the walk along the promenade towards Carvajal.

Upon reaching the entrance to the Sendero del Mar, the ascent towards Torreblanca will begin, which is of medium difficulty, up to the high point of the route. From this point, participants will be able to enjoy views of the coastline and the surroundings of Fuengirola.

Registration is free and must be completed in advance at the Senior Citizens department of the Social Home on Blanca Paloma street, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The councillor has explained that prior registration is necessary to calculate the number of participants and prepare the healthy snack offered during these activities.

"In these activities, we always provide a healthy snack, and for that, we need to know in advance how many people will participate. Therefore, it is necessary to register beforehand at the Senior Citizens department on Blanca Paloma street, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM"

Bornao has recommended wearing comfortable sports shoes and clothing and has encouraged participation from both those who regularly take these routes and those joining for the first time.

"I encourage all seniors to participate, both those who regularly take these routes and those who will do so for the first time, because it is a very healthy activity that allows for exercise, enjoying the outdoors, and sharing a good time with others"

The departure will be on Saturday 19th September at 9:00 AM from Pedro Cuevas square in Los Boliches. Interested individuals must register beforehand at the Social Home on Blanca Paloma street, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
