The City Council of Fuengirola has executed €520,000 from Axis 2 of its Tourism Sustainability Plan, 99.16% of the budget. The investment includes eight electric vehicles, 24 charging points, and a network of 80 electric bikes with ten stations.
The City Council of Fuengirola has executed over €520,000 from Axis 2 of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination 'Fuengirola + Tourism. For a more sustainable and intelligent destination'. Of the €525,000 planned, more than €520,000 has been invested, which is 99.16% of the budget, according to the councillor for Innovation, Isabel González.
The plan is 100% funded by European Funds, as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and has a total budget of €2,498,580 distributed across four axes. Of the overall plan, €2,479,678.28 has already been executed, which is 99.24% of the granted subsidy.
The renewal of the municipal fleet for operational services has incorporated eight 100% electric vehicles: five vans, one tipper truck, one motorcycle, and one car. The charging infrastructure consists of 12 double socket chargers (24 points) distributed across the City Council, the Cleaning Depot on Camino de Santiago, the Local Police, and the Operational Services Depot.
The third block is the network of electric bikes, with 80 units and ten parking and charging stations, one more than the nine initially planned. The facilities incorporate IoT technology to check bike availability, usage statistics, and energy consumption data.

González has pointed out that the goal is to facilitate movement around Fuengirola without relying on private vehicles and has argued that sustainable mobility involves "putting alternatives on the table", taking advantage of European funds to improve public services.
The actions of Axis 2 have already been executed: 24 charging points, eight electric vehicles, 80 electric bikes, and ten parking and charging stations in Fuengirola.
