The Junta de Andalucía Reopens the Active Participation Centre in Coín

The Active Participation Centre (CPA) in Coín has reopened its doors following its renovation, carried out by the Junta de Andalucía with an investment exceeding €300,000. This new facility is aimed at providing a wide range of workshops, activities, and services to nearly 3,800 seniors in the municipality.

The renovation involved a total investment of €327,427, of which €247,691 was allocated to the construction work and €79,735 to the new equipment for the centre. The territorial delegate for Social Services, Families, and Equality, Laura Valle, emphasised the importance of returning this centre to its users, who will be able to enjoy a renewed space that promotes active ageing and establishes social connections.

Details of the Work Carried Out

The works at the CPA in Coín have focused on adapting the facilities to the needs of the users, making them safe and accessible spaces. Floors and tiles in the cafeteria area have been replaced, workshops have been expanded, and new areas have been created, such as a space dedicated to podiatry.

Additionally, the exterior carpentry has been renewed and the lighting has been improved, incorporating LED technology. These renovations allow for a better experience for users, who will be able to participate in a varied programme of activities.

Collaboration with the Coín Town Hall

Laura Valle highlighted the joint work with the Coín Town Hall, which has allowed the activity programme to continue during the renovation works. Municipal spaces have been used to ensure that care for seniors was not interrupted.

The delegate thanked the users for their patience during the development of the works, which are part of a broader plan that has also seen other centres in the province renovated, including Antequera, Marbella, and El Perchel, with a total investment of €1.1 million.
