The Fuengirola City Council expands the offer of reading clubs in the Municipal Library Network to 28 proposals. Mayor Ana Mula has asked residents to check the available spots as some groups already have few left.
The Municipal Library Network of Fuengirola will have 28 reading clubs this academic year, as reported by the City Council following a meeting between Mayor Ana Mula and the area councillor, Rodrigo Romero, with coordinators of some of these groups to learn about their operation and organisation.
The programme includes proposals for different ages, tastes, and interests, so that both regular readers and those who wish to start can find a club suited to their preferences. The groups are not only intended as spaces for reading but also as meeting points to share opinions and discover new authors.
“We have expanded the offer of Reading Clubs to 28 proposals aimed at very diverse audiences, with the goal of continuing to bring reading closer to residents and turning municipal libraries into spaces for meeting and participation. We want our Library Network to be a lively, open, and dynamic space. Reading clubs allow culture to be shared and reading to become a way of meeting between neighbours,” explained the mayor.
Among the new features of this edition are El Faro, El Boquetillo, and Capítulo Cero, focused on contemporary narrative and classics; Atrévete a leer, aimed at those who want to start the reading habit; Páginas de Terror, for fans of literature in this genre, and LIJ sin Edad, a proposal for adults interested in children's and youth literature.
The offer is completed with established clubs like Lecturas Pasajeras, which each month proposes exploring a different literary genre, and other initiatives linked to cinema, music, comics, or poetry.
The mayor has warned that in some of the clubs “there are already very few spots left”. Interested individuals can inquire about availability at the three centres that make up the Municipal Library Network. Mula has encouraged residents to check the various proposals and participate in the one that interests them most: “There are clubs for very different profiles and tastes.”
