The Estepona Town Hall informs that the construction of two free padel courts in Nueva Atalaya has reached its midpoint. The investment amounts to €124,503 and adds to the existing sports facilities in the area.
The Estepona Town Hall has announced that the works for the construction of two new free padel courts in the Nueva Atalaya area have surpassed the midpoint of their execution. The work, which began a few weeks ago, is progressing according to the planned schedule and is expected to be completed in the coming months.
According to municipal sources, both playing surfaces have already been concreted, for which two platforms were previously created with a compacted sub-base and the foundation reinforcement of the slab was installed. The perimeter channels that will house the lighting and irrigation circuits have also been completed.
In the coming days, workers will proceed with the installation of the glass structure that will surround the courts, as well as landscaping work in the surrounding area. The new facilities will occupy a plot of approximately 400 square meters.
These two courts will be added to the existing ones in the same area, which include a padel court and a multi-sport court intended for futsal, basketball, and other sports. In this way, the Town Hall aims to respond to the growing demand for spaces to practice padel in Estepona, especially in the outlying neighbourhoods.
The project has a budget of €124,503.57, including VAT, and is part of the municipal strategy to provide peripheral neighbourhoods with modern and functional infrastructures. The goal is to ensure free access to sports as a tool to improve the health and well-being of the population, as well as to energise the area and promote social integration through sport.
The initiative responds to the commitment of the Estepona Town Hall to continue expanding the network of free outdoor sports facilities and to encourage healthy living habits among citizens. With these two new courts, the municipality reinforces its commitment to sport as an element of social cohesion and improvement of quality of life.
Once completed, the courts will be available to all residents free of charge, without the need for prior reservation, during the opening hours of the facilities. The works are expected to conclude before the end of the year, although the Town Hall has not specified an exact inauguration date.
The news has been well received by the residents of Nueva Atalaya, who see these new facilities as an opportunity to practice sports without having to travel to the urban centre. In addition, the area already has other sports facilities that make this neighbourhood a hub for outdoor physical activity.
