The project will allow the building to be adapted for new uses, providing it with independent access to the upper floors and equipping its facilities for future operation. This second phase will continue the renovation already carried out on the ground floor, which is planned to house the new office of the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE). In this way, the council aims to optimise municipal resources and offer better service to citizens.
The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has announced that the building will be named Alcalde Antonio Jiménez Gálvez, in recognition of the first mayor of the municipality after the democratic restoration. As the mayor explained, the name change is a tribute to a very beloved and respected figure in the locality, and he believes that this municipal building, located next to the street that already bears his name, is the right place to remember his trajectory and service to the citizens.
