The Estepona Town Hall will immediately undertake the comprehensive renovation of the Fuerzas Armadas square and its surroundings, with an investment in modernisation that includes new networks, natural stone pavement, and green areas.
The Estepona Town Hall has announced that it will execute the comprehensive renovation of the Fuerzas Armadas square and its surroundings immediately, which also includes the Fuerzas Armadas and Independencia streets. The project aims to transform this location, one of the most significant public spaces in the urban area, into a reference point for the neighbourhood and the entire city.
The action includes the comprehensive renewal of the supply and sanitation networks, both for wastewater and stormwater, as well as the replacement of all current paving with natural stone. The current state of the square and its surroundings, according to the Town Hall, is obsolete and deteriorated, with a heterogeneous appearance due to the accumulation of different types of flooring over time.
Additionally, new ramps adapted for people with reduced mobility will be created, green areas and landscaping will be renewed, and ornamental fountains will be installed. The project also includes new public and scenic lighting, both in the green areas and at the fountains, in line with the new image intended for the space. Urban furniture will also be completely renewed.
One of the highlighted aspects is that the project has taken into account the suggestions and contributions from residents and property communities in the area. According to municipal sources, specific drainage and waterproofing measures have been incorporated, both in the planters adjacent to the buildings and around the perimeter of the Peña Flamenca venues. Existing parking spaces within the area of action will also be preserved.
This work will represent a profound transformation of the Fuerzas Armadas neighbourhood and is part of the initiative ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’, which aims to consolidate the city's image as a well-maintained and sustainable urban space. Upon completion of the works, residents will be able to enjoy a more accessible environment, adapted to their needs and with a higher quality of life.
The Town Hall has not specified the execution timeline or the exact budget for the work, but has assured that the start will be immediate. Residents in the area should stay alert for upcoming notices regarding possible traffic disruptions or service impacts during the construction.
