In Málaga and the rest of Andalucía, the Department of Education has launched an ambitious plan that includes 24 major educational infrastructure projects. These actions represent a total investment of 135.2 million euros.
During the 2025-2026 school year, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, six new centres, five expansions, and two renovations have been initiated, with an estimated cost of 67.1 million euros.
Significant Investments in Málaga and Other Locations
Among the highlighted projects is the new IES in the Soliva area of Málaga, which has a budget of over 11.1 million euros. Additionally, construction has begun on a new IES in Benalmádena with an investment of 10.7 million.
Other locations will also see significant educational improvements. For instance, the new IES of Las Marinas in Roquetas de Mar (Almería) will have 9.3 million, and the replacement of CEIP Intelhorce in Campanillas, Málaga, will have a budget of 6.7 million.
Expansions and Renovations Underway
As for the expansions, 13.2 million euros are allocated to various centres, such as CEIP Nueva Andalucía in Adra and the León Ortega Art School in Huelva. Two renovations have also been initiated, each involving an investment of over one million euros.
Some of these projects, such as CEIP Bernardo Barco in La Campana and the new IES of Las Salinas, are expected to be completed by the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Additionally, four more major projects are pending initiation, including the new IES of La Cala del Moral in Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga.
These initiatives are part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the Department of Education, which is co-financed by European funds in 22 of the 24 scheduled projects, except for those being carried out in Aracena and La Línea, which are funded through the ‘Andalucía Actúa’ plan following damage caused by adverse weather conditions.
