The works on Estepona's sixth public parking are entering their final phase. The underground parking, with over 300 spaces, is expected to open this summer.
The Estepona Town Hall has announced that the works on the new public parking at El Carmen are in their final stretch. The focus is now on polishing the floors and cleaning the interior equipment, after completing the exterior urbanisation and the structure of the underground building. According to technical forecasts, the parking will open during the summer, once all necessary permits are obtained.
The new parking, the sixth to join the municipal network of parking facilities with a flat rate of 1 euro during the day, will have over 300 spaces distributed across three underground levels. It is located in the urban centre, next to adjacent buildings, which required particularly careful execution in the initial phases.
In recent months, the paving of the surrounding streets, such as Manuel Navarro Mollor, Padre Fernando, and Guadiaro, has been carried out. With the completion of the works, the Town Hall will provide citizens with a new public square in the area, maintaining vehicular traffic and improving the image and functionality of this urban centre location.
These new spaces will add to the more than 2,000 existing in the city under the same flat rate of 1 euro. The current municipal parking facilities are located at the new Town Hall, Antonia Guerrero square, the Athletics Stadium, the Chess square, and La Viña.
Additionally, the Town Hall is executing another underground parking at the Estepona Boulevard, which will add another 300 spaces. In this way, the municipal parking network will continue to grow to meet the demand from residents and visitors.
The opening of the El Carmen parking will provide relief for parking in a very busy area of the centre, facilitating access to shops and services. Drivers will be able to park for 1 euro per day, a very competitive price compared to other private options.
The works have involved significant investment and have generated anticipation among residents, who have been waiting for the launch of this facility for some time. The Town Hall hopes that, once opened, it will help to energise the area and reduce the search for parking on the surface.
