Toledo has witnessed the dismantling of a network dedicated to organising illegal races. The Civil Guard has conducted an investigation that culminated in the arrest of 17 individuals and the investigation of another 25 for their involvement in these clandestine activities, known as “Modo Francia”.
Risks associated with illegal racing
From November 2025 to February 2026, illegal gatherings took place in the province where participants performed extremely dangerous maneuvers. Additionally, incidents of alcohol and drug consumption were recorded, as well as the use of fireworks and fire extinguishers.
One of the most serious incidents occurred when a Civil Guard vehicle was attacked. In this coordinated assault, participants surrounded the vehicle and threw torches and pyrotechnic materials, as well as attempting to use an incendiary object under the car.
Actions of the Civil Guard
The Civil Guard has successfully dismantled the organising core of these illegal races after several months of investigation. Ten cars used for these events have also been seized, and approximately 30 administrative complaints have been issued.
Illegal racing practices not only pose a risk to participants but also to road safety and the integrity of citizens unrelated to these events. The Civil Guard reminds that these activities generate extreme risks, being associated with excessive speeds, reckless maneuvers, and the consumption of illicit substances.
