The Estepona Town Hall has allocated over 120,000 euros to improvements in the five municipal nursery schools, which this year accommodate 377 students. Additionally, the socio-educational care service will be free for places for one and two-year-olds.

The Estepona Town Hall has invested this summer more than 120,000 euros in improvements to the five municipal nursery schools, as explained by the mayor, José María García Urbano, during a meeting with all the monitors of these centres to mark the start of the 2026/2027 school year.

Among the actions taken, the installation of a new air conditioning system at the Los Pitufos school stands out, while at the Cancelada school, laminated flooring has been installed and the exterior of the building has been painted. At the El Mar school, safety flooring is being installed in its two patios, with work scheduled to take place during this month of September.

This investment is complemented by an additional 50,000 euros in maintenance tasks carried out during the summer at the five centres. In total, the City Council has allocated over 170,000 euros to prepare these facilities before the return to classes.

As a main novelty of the school year, the socio-educational care service for places for one and two-year-olds in centres participating in the Family Assistance Programme will be free, a measure implemented by the Department of Educational Development and Vocational Training of the Junta de Andalucía. All children of those ages will be able to benefit from it.

Furthermore, the Town Hall continues with the second phase of the municipal air conditioning plan for educational centres, which includes the installation of 35 new units for cooling and heating with an investment of 64,000 euros. The actions include the schools Valeriano López, Víctor de la Serna, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Gloria Fuertes, and Ramón García, as well as the nursery schools Los Pitufos, El Mar, and Calancha.

These actions are part of an investment of over 800,000 euros that the Town Hall is allocating to the improvement of 18 educational centres in the city, including schools and nursery schools. The programme includes the comprehensive renovation of bathrooms and exterior galleries, the conditioning of patios and sports courts, the renovation of stands and walls, and the renewal of coverings and pavements.
