The City Council of Fuengirola has begun the demolition of the Los Boliches Complex to build a mega car park, expand the Santa Fe stadium, and create new courts. The investment exceeds 48.7 million euros.
The City Council of Fuengirola initiated the works on the Los Boliches Complex this Tuesday, which will include the construction of an underground car park with 1,070 spaces, the expansion of the Antonio Basilio Santa Fe stadium, and the creation of new centralised courts. This project, considered the largest investment in the city's history, has a budget of 48,766,872 euros.
The mayor, Ana Mula, supervised the start of the works alongside the local deputy mayor, Rosa Ana Bravo, and the councillors for Strategic Infrastructure and Sports, Rocío Arriaga and Julio Rodríguez. The initial works consist of demolishing the current facilities.
The project aims to expand the area of the site from just over 13,000 square meters to 14,500 square meters, incorporating part of Francisco Rivera 'Paquirri' street. Three underground levels will be built beneath the complex, providing more than a thousand parking spaces.
“In the last elections, I made several important commitments to the people of Fuengirola, especially to the residents of Boliches: to create parking, completely renovate the Santa Fe-Antonio Basilio Stadium, and provide a definitive solution to the precarious and outdated courts we have in our city. It is now a reality,” Mula explained.
The UTE Vialterra Infraestructuras S.A.-Urbasur Actividades y Servicios S.L. is the contractor for the works, which will have an execution period of 29 months, plus an additional three months for technical planning. Among the improvements presented by the UTE is the early delivery of the underground car park so that it can open to the public before the rest of the project is completed.
In addition to the parking, the complex will house a new football pitch that will change its orientation by 90 degrees, a covered hockey pavilion, another for volleyball, and a multifunctional one, all with stands, changing rooms, and storage areas. Common facilities such as a café, concierge, infirmary, training room, and machine room will also be included.
The most notable new feature will be an outdoor recreational pool of 312.5 square meters on the roof of the building, which will not have sports purposes.
Regarding the courts, the complex will have facilities of over 7,000 square meters that will group all judicial services currently dispersed throughout the city. These facilities will have an independent entrance that is completely separate from the rest of the building, according to the agreement signed with the Justice Department of the Junta de Andalucía.
“We are talking about a very ambitious project. The largest investment in our history. Once again, it is possible thanks to the efforts of everyone: the people of Fuengirola facing their taxes and the efficient and responsible management of my team: Modelo Fuengirola,” concluded the mayor.
The works will last for the next two and a half years, with the underground car park being the first major infrastructure to be completed.
