The Ronda City Council and the Golden Academy are launching 'Those Who Sing Scare Away Their Ills', a women's choir that will meet on October 14 and 15. Registration is free and is now open.
The Ronda City Council, through the Equality Department, and the Golden Academy have presented the project 'Those Who Sing Scare Away Their Ills', a women's choir aimed at raising awareness about equality and preventing gender violence. The initiative is part of the campaign for November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The Councillor for Equality, Cristina Durán, and the singer-songwriter from Ronda, Martha Pérez, who leads the Golden Academy, have detailed that the sessions will take place on October 14 and 15, from 5 to 8 PM. Registration is free and is open to women of all ages.
The training will combine music, voice, body, and humour to work on themes of equality and prevention. The pedagogical aspect will be led by Mar Romero Alba, while Martha Pérez will handle the musical side. The goal is for the choir to be sustainable over time and to help raise awareness about gender violence in Ronda.

The head of the Golden Academy summarised the spirit of the initiative in this way. For her part, Durán explained that singing will serve to work on empowerment and aspects related to gender violence: "All arts are wonderful on a therapeutic level," she noted.
