Málaga City Council has scheduled traffic restrictions for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September due to a cycling event, the Veladilla de Churriana, a rosary, and Car-Free Day. The Paseo del Parque will be closed on Sunday from 8:00 to 15:00 hours.
The Málaga City Council, through the Mobility Area, has announced a series of traffic cuts and restrictions in the capital for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, as reported by Diario Sur. The disruptions are due to a cycling event, the celebration of the Veladilla de Churriana, an evening rosary, and Car-Free Day.
On Saturday, the 41st ascent to Fuente de la Reina will require traffic to be cut from 10:00 hours. The neutralised start will be from plaza John F. Kennedy and the route will pass through avenida Jacinto Benavente, avenida Santiago Ramón y Cajal, avenida Jorge Silvela, Marqués de Cádiz, Pérez de Castro, San Félix Cantalicio, plaza Capuchinos, alameda Capuchinos, plaza Olletas and camino Colmenar up to number 32. From there, the timed section will run along the A-7000 to Puerto del León.
Also on Saturday, the IX Veladilla 'La noche se hace arte' de Churriana will maintain cuts from 10:00 hours to 1:30 hours on Sunday. The affected streets are plaza de la Inmaculada, Jardines Gerald Brenan, Flor, Doctor Castañón, San Fernando, Piedra Blanquilla, Estación, plaza San Antonio Abad, plaza Cruz, Cueva, Callejón de la Cueva, Gabriel Miró and paseo Grice Hutchinson, with auxiliary cuts at the accesses to plaza de la Inmaculada, calle Vega and paseo Grice Hutchinson.
In the afternoon, the evening rosary Virgen de los Dolores del Puerto de la Torre will begin at 21:00 hours from the parish Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and will travel along Lope de Rueda, Manuel Rodríguez Rodríguez, Ciruelos, Jesús de la Sentencia, Forja, Lara Castañeda and return to the parish.
On Sunday, the 59th National Bricklaying Competition Peña el Palustre will take place from 8:00 to 18:00 hours. The section of calle Mar will be closed and parking will be prohibited in plaza del Padre Ciganda from 18 to 21 September.
Additionally, the Paseo del Parque will be closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday from 8:00 to 15:00 hours due to the activities of 'Car-Free Day', part of European Mobility Week.
