The Historical Heritage Commission of Ronda has given the green light to 26 interventions, mostly rehabilitation of properties, with an investment exceeding €839,000.
The Ronda City Council has approved a package of 26 actions in the historic ensemble, which will involve a total investment of €839,250. Most of the projects, 16, affect residential use, while 8 are commercial, one is tourist, and another is religious.
The Urban Planning delegate, Jesús Vázquez, explained that the Historical Heritage Commission, created in 2025, has approved these interventions both private and public. Among the latter, the improvement and replacement of the pavement on Sevilla Street, between Lorenzo Borrego and Mariano Soubirón streets, will be carried out by the City Council itself with AEPSA funds.
By neighbourhoods, five of the actions will take place in San Francisco, another five in La Ciudad, and one in Padre Jesús. In the San Francisco neighbourhood, the removal of a dry specimen from the Convent of the Franciscan Mothers is included.
“The current investment approved by the Commission already exceeds that of the entire year 2025, advancing and providing legal security to investors and allowing the rehabilitation of housing in the historic ensemble,” Vázquez pointed out.
The delegate highlighted that this body allows for the streamlining of procedures in an area declared a Cultural Asset of Interest (BIC) by the Junta de Andalucía, which occupies more than 40% of the urban core of Ronda. The streamlining is due to the delegation of powers following the innovation of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU), which shortens administrative deadlines.
For property owners in the historic centre, this streamlining represents an advantage when starting rehabilitation works, as permits are resolved more quickly. The Heritage Commission meets periodically to assess applications, with the next meeting scheduled for the coming months.
