A study conducted in Málaga has identified which healthcare professionals respond best to the digital programme MINDxYOU, aimed at reducing stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in this group.

This analysis, developed by the Basic, Clinical and Epidemiological Research Group in Mental Health of IBIMA BIONAND Platform, as well as by the Clinical Management Unit of Mental Health at the Regional University Hospital of Málaga, involved 347 healthcare professionals. The results indicate that nursing staff experience a greater reduction in stress compared to other professional groups.

Results of the MINDxYOU study

The study revealed that those healthcare professionals who entered the programme with higher depressive symptoms initially experienced a more favourable response to it. Furthermore, those who showed a greater ability to consciously observe their thoughts and emotions also noted a more significant decrease in stress.

Although the findings suggest that MINDxYOU may be particularly beneficial for certain profiles, this does not imply that it cannot be useful for others. The research points to the possibility of personalising future digital mental health interventions according to the psychological and occupational characteristics of each healthcare professional.

About the MINDxYOU programme

MINDxYOU is presented as an eight-week self-guided web programme that incorporates mindfulness, compassion, and acceptance strategies. Through various formats, including videos and interactive exercises, skills related to emotional regulation and resilience are developed.

The programme also offers weekly support through different communication channels, promoting greater continuity in the process. Its digital accessibility allows it to adapt to the demanding schedules of healthcare staff, favouring its adoption as a tool to improve the emotional well-being of the group.

It is important to note that this study is a secondary analysis of a clinical trial, so its conclusions should be taken as exploratory. The main sample was predominantly female, and self-report questionnaires were used.

Researchers from various institutions, including the Aragón Health Research Institute, have participated in this study. Following the acquisition of these results, plans are underway to implement the programme in the Andalusian Health Service, in order to assess its feasibility and sustainability in routine clinical practice.
