Málaga Clinical Hospital, under the direction of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), has organised two events to commemorate World Mental Health Day, aiming to raise visibility and awareness about this illness, particularly in the workplace.

Activities and Objectives of the Events

These events, taking place in October coinciding with the global day on October 10, have the slogan: ‘It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’ and ‘Match with your mental health’. The programme titled ‘Two Days to Care for What Matters to Us’ is being held at the Maritime Hospital of Torremolinos and the Clinical Hospital of Málaga.

The aim is to create a space for meeting, awareness, and support among patients, families, professionals, and social groups, highlighting the importance of fostering healthy work and community environments. The programme of activities emphasises that patient recovery is strengthened by sharing moments of togetherness and experiences, which helps to break stigmas and humanise mental health care.

Development of the Events

The event began on October 8 with the III Gathering of Patients and Professionals in Pavilion 2 of the Maritime Hospital of Torremolinos. During this meeting, group dynamics and creative workshops were held, as well as recreational activities that promoted respect and inclusion.

Today’s event took place in the auditorium of the Virgen de la Victoria University Clinical Hospital, starting with an institutional inauguration. There were debate tables on mental health in the workplace, gender perspectives, and the challenges faced by professionals in vulnerable environments. Personal testimonies were also shared on how to manage mental health issues in the workplace.

As part of the activities, an exhibition of creative articles from Mental Health Occupational Therapy was held, an open discussion took place, and the awards for the IX edition of the Miguel Ángel Rubio Photography Contest were presented, culminating in an institutional closure of the events.
